The Vietnam Football Federation said Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Troussier on the job as well as on goals in the coming period. Troussier will come to Vietnam to sign a contract until 2026 at the end of February.
Dubbed the “White Witch Doctor” for his successful stint in Africa, Troussier has managed Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa, and Burkina Faso. He led Japan to the final 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2002, the country’s best-ever run in the competition at the time.
The French coach helped Vietnam’s U19 team qualify for the AFC Championship 2020, which was later canceled due to Covid-19. He also acted as a strategic adviser and technical director at the Promotion Fund of Vietnamese Football Talent (PVF) Academy in 2018.
